Our most recent testimonial provided to us from a client on our recent PSA for The 2015 International Adventure Summit. The ATTA with Fáilte Ireland organised the World Adventure Summit in Killarney. Part of the experience for delegate s was a pre summit adventure. We provide one and this is one of the reviews.

February 2015.

I am writing a testimonial on behalf of Adventure Burren along with the guides Christy Sinclair & Jacinta Stafford. I was asked by Christy if I, as a participant/guest of Adventure Burren,  would write something on behalf of Adventure Burren, who are long-listed for a  Sustainable Tourism Award.

Earlier this fall I had the pleasure of joining an Adventure Burren excursion which highlighted a number of natural locations, activities, accommodations and eateries in the area of County Clare. The excursion which I participated in appropriately named a Journey through Time & Space, began by being promptly picked up at the airport in Dublin and being driven to Limerick and dropped off at my hotel, by Jacinta Stafford. Very impressed to begin with on the timeliness of the operation and proceedings. I  had assumed I would be left waiting at the airport for some minute or even hours as is somewhat common in the travel industry, I was unexpectedly satisfied.

Throughout the week and our journey from Limerick towards the Burren we were filled with both natural history and cultural history of the area filled with small excerpts of Gaelic language lessons and geology and botany of the area mixed in with some of the local folklore. Having gone through the villages of Ballyvaughan, Kinvara, Kilfenora and Lisdoonvarna to name a few I was greatly impressed with the local knowledge of the two guides, who I later found out were not originally from the area. The knowledge and expertise was only matched by their hospitality and their ability to make us all feel not only at home but as we were part of their small family.

We were a small close knit group of five clients and two guides journeying through the Burren and taking in all its rich traditions and nuances. I personally felt the group was no longer just a group but a small quirky family, rich with fun, laughter, comradery and it’s small idiosyncracies that make any family unique. We were a small close knit group of five clients and two guides from a variety of different locations spanning the globe.

From the beginning of the tour the principles of Leave No Trace were emphasized even as we travelled within front-country only to be asserted during our short time in the backcountry. A lot of care was taken to incorporate our group into the local community and highlight the local traditions, food and people of the Burren. In all honesty I felt like  I was going back to a long lost part of my unknown history much akin to going to a large family reunion for the first time as a little kid and meeting characters and hearing stories that you can only wish you were there to experience.

Christy demonstrated a very casual democratic leadership style that was easy to follow and feel comfortable in. Jacinta coming across as a very caring and genuine individual was very attentive to the pulse and feel of the group. She indubitably was the mother hen of our group. As a pair they appear to work well together and represent the area in a very natural, honest and encompassing manner.

Having never been to County Clare area of Ireland before it was not only a unique experience for me, but it definitely gave me a clear picture of and abundance of reasons to come back and explore more of Clare, the Burren and Ireland as a sustainable adventure destination rich in folklore and natural history to satisfy guests of all ages and desires.

It is with great joy that I write this recommendation for Adventure Burren and salute them for their exemplary efforts in representing sustainability, history both cultural and natural, traditions and hospitality in Ireland. Only hopes is that they go from being long-isted to shortlisted for the Sustainable Tourism Award they are in line for, without questions.

As you say in Ireland,

A recent Facebook review from an American couple on their honeymoon:

Christie Sinclair’s expert guidance made our Burren walk an unforgettable adventure. Ancient tombs, walls, and huts dot the landscape and Christie seems to know where they all are. His knowledge of the landscape, the ecosystem, and the history are unrivaled. If you are lucky enough to book a walk with Christie, do it. You won’t be disappointed.

Thanks Christy for a great hike yesterday. The views on top of Turlough Hill were truly spectacular. We’ve done a number of hikes in the Burren but this was by far the best we’ve seen and done. Additionally, your knowledge of the unique flowers and archaeology of the area really helped us to appreciate this unique landscape. It was a privilege to spend time with you in an area you are so clearly passionate about. You’ve set the bar incredibly high and we cant wait to come back for a new adventure.
